How PTE Academic scoring works
PTE Academic reports an overall score and communicative skill scores on a 10-90 scale. Different question types use different scoring rules, and only Pearson can issue an official PTE result.

What appears on a PTE score report?
Pearson provides an overall score, scores for Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing, and a Skills Profile. The overall score is not calculated as a simple average of the four communicative skill scores.
Are all PTE questions scored in the same way?
No. Some selected-response questions are correct or incorrect, while complex speaking and writing responses are evaluated against multiple traits. Some item types can contribute to more than one communicative skill.
- Read the scoring notes for the exact question type you are practising.
- Review both task completion and language quality where multiple traits apply.
- Use repeated attempts to identify a pattern instead of reacting to one practice score.
How should I interpret The Panel's AI feedback?
Treat it as indicative practice feedback. It can help identify content, fluency, pronunciation, grammar or form patterns, but it is not an official Pearson score and should not be presented as one.
